ASSISTANT MANAGER, FACILITIES, Haystack Observatory, to oversee and support--in conjunction with the facilities manager--daily facilities-related needs Will manage all trades staff (team of fourteen); monitor and drive routine maintenance, space upkeep, emergency repairs, and safety issues for all department spaces; address concerns related to space heating/cooling (HVAC), infrastructure services, pest control, recycling, and chemical and other hazardous substances; oversee custodial services, key requests, moving, storage, and furniture needs; relay shutdown and emergency notifications to affected parties and grant final shutdown approval; serve as primary contact for all building systems' repairs and improvements and ensure that work is completed and correct; assist with outside contractors; assist the facilities manager with space renovations and improvement projects and possibly interact with project managers, architects, engineers, construction managers/personnel and departmental stakeholders; compile/track space use data and develop reports; coordinate, maintain, and resolve building management issues; serve as primary contact for all building systems' maintenance, repairs, and improvement; and perform related duties/project as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; three years' relevant experience in a facilities field/environment; ability to effectively interact/communicate with a diverse community of staff and contractors, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and work both independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities; self-motivation; and proficiency with standard computer software programs and building facilities systems, specifically HVAC and construction/renovation processes. PREFERRED: experience with EHS chemicals and safety protocols and reporting Self-motivation; and ability to. Experience with and knowledge of the Haystack Observatory and other building sites ideal.
